Internet Explorer FAQs

Background

  • Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer by June 2022
  • Currently several administrator tools and pages only work in IE
  • We will continue to support IE 11 until Microsoft ends support in June 2022

What Do I Need to Do?

  • We have 20.1 upgrades available now for EPSi, allowing the application to fully operate with Microsoft Edge with IE compatibility mode enabled
  • As we communicated in February, prior versions may work using Microsoft Edge in IE Compatibility Mode. This has been tested in some EPSi Versions later than 16.1 resulting in minor visualization impacts but continued functionality. It has not been tested in version prior to 16.1.

Silverlight FAQs

Background

  • Microsoft ended support for Silverlight in October 2021. However, applications that use Silverlight – including EPSi – will continue to work after October.
  • However, as an unsupported application, Microsoft will not release any future quality or security updates. (For reference, the only update to Microsoft Silverlight in the past four years was released about 2.5 years ago to fix a calculation in the Japanese Calendar.)

What Do I Need to Do?

  • The 22.1 upgrade to transition from Microsoft Silverlight will be available in the second half of this year
  • Version 22.1 will remove all Silverlight-dependent code
  • There is no risk here for your team as Strata will continue to support the application, and EPSi with Silverlight will continue to work
  • Additionally, this upgrade will provide compatibility for Chrome and Edge browsers

How is Strata addressing the discontinuation of Silverlight support?

  • Version 22.1 of EPSi will be released in H2 2022 and this release will contain all compliance fixes needed for the removal of Silverlight components
  • We will be rewriting the Silverlight applications in Angular – a new, more modern technology
  • We are not releasing fixes for prior releases. For example, version 19.x or 20.x will not be backward compatible.
